Victoria L. Steinberg Partner
Victoria L. Steinberg represents individuals and institutions across a range of employment, business, and higher education matters.
Ms. Steinberg’s employment expertise includes representing employers and employees in workplace disputes, internal and government investigations, severance and separation negotiations, noncompete and nonsolicitation agreements, and discrimination, harassment and retaliation issues. She also counsels employers on developing, implementing, and enforcing their employment policies and practices.
Ms. Steinberg represents individuals and businesses in complex commercial disputes across all industries, including healthcare practices, startup and established technology companies, biopharmaceutical operations, telecommunications companies, and non-profit and mission-driven organizations, among many others. She represents executives, boards of directors, family-run companies, international institutions, employees, and licensed professionals.
Ms. Steinberg represents colleges and universities, as well as secondary schools, in a wide variety of matters, including Title IX litigation, Office of Civil Rights investigations, faculty and student disputes, government criminal investigations and subpoena responses, and commercial litigation. She has represented colleges and universities and their presidents, trustees, department chairs, and deans in high-stakes matters to achieve a resolution outside of litigation, and has also represented them in state and federal courts, and in administrative agencies.
Across all practice areas, Ms. Steinberg handles civil and criminal matters in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies such as the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She also has experience serving as a Title IX investigative hearing officer.
Prior to founding Cloherty & Steinberg LLP, Ms. Steinberg was a partner at a Boston-based law firm. Ms. Steinberg previously served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable William Meade and the Honorable Susan S. Beck, both of the Massachusetts Appeals Court.

On behalf of a University, obtained dismissal of a former student's Title IX federal court case
On behalf of two Boston-area universities, obtained dismissal of two separate COVID-19 tuition refund lawsuits filed in federal court
Obtained jury verdict in favor of company related to allegations of SOX retaliation following complaints of alleged misconduct
Following mediation, obtained settlement on behalf of an engineer who had not been paid full wages and owed bonuses in accordance with the Massachusetts Wage Act
Secured injunction on behalf of a company preventing former employee from competing with company in violation of his employment agreement
